Samantha Martinez

CERTIFIED NURSE MIDWIFE, DOCTOR OF NURSING PRACTICE

Samantha discovered her passion for caring for women early in her nursing career as a Labor and Delivery nurse. During her ten years as an RN in both the Labor & Delivery and Emergency Departments, she saw the profound impact providers can have on their patients. Her passion for women’s health grew as she witnessed first-hand how women desperately needed providers who would listen to them, empower them, and advocate for them when they were most vulnerable.

It was while receiving care for her own first pregnancy that she discovered the art of midwifery and knew right away that this was her calling. “I remember sitting across from my midwife feeling heard, respected, and cared for. I knew that I wanted to be a provider who made my clients feel the way I felt in that moment.” It was then that she decided to pursue her Doctorate in Nursing Practice in Nurse-Midwifery from Baylor University.

Samantha and her husband Cody moved from Washington state, along with their two boys, to make Texas their permanent home in January of 2024. Once here, she jumped at the chance to become a part of Midwife & Co and their mission to empower and care for women. Samantha is excited to work with a midwife-led team in Dallas and believes every woman deserves to be heard and believed by her healthcare provider. She is passionate about shared decision-making and loves the midwifery model of care. She feels strongly that care should be individualized for each unique patient, their beliefs, and their preferences, and strives to ensure that all her patients feel safe, heard, and cared for.

In her time off, Samantha loves to be outdoors, spending time with her family, or curled up with a good book.
